Hey, my name is Jon Wallace. I’m an artist born and raised in Detroit, MI, now creating from the farmlands of Indiana. I studied traditional animation and character development at the College for Creative Studies, but over time I found myself pulled toward abstract art. My journey began at age three when my brother sat crayons and paper in front of me—something to keep me busy that ended up shaping my life.
Throughout my career I’ve touched comics, collectible cards, video games, Fortune 50 marketing, and independent film. But everything shifted in 2022, while preparing for an art showcase in downtown Detroit. I discovered ink on film and spent weeks crafting pieces. When the show opened, strangers gathered, shared stories, connected—and every piece sold out within two hours.
Since then, this medium has become my home. Each piece takes weeks, built from emotion, custom tools, and ink I create myself.
My ink-on-film abstracts are built layer by layer—custom tools, hand-mixed inks, and weeks of emotion poured onto each sheet. These pieces change depending on how you rotate them, revealing new details and hidden images every time.
